Abstract
The dentist in a general practice usually carries out extractions ordered by the patient's orthodontist. While the specialist establishes the indications, the extraction is performed by a collegue who is not subject to instructions. The dentist doing the extraction therefore assumes responsibility for the procedure. If the orthodontist's order is incorrect or misleading, not only the orthodontist but also the dentist extracting the tooth or teeth may be held responsible for any errors. A number of safety measures built into the communication between the two therapists would help to avoid unnecessary or incorrect extraction teeth.Entities:
