Abstract
It is possible for computers to substitute for, add to, and enhance the function of the anaesthetic apparatus. Already computerised accounting is available. To have the computer print out the anaesthetic record with input derived from manual input and on-line monitors is a logical extension of this technology. Computerisation can assist in such administrative tasks as theatre and anaesthetic staff allocation. Regrettably health authorities tend to regard computer technology as a specialised area, only capable of being applied by experts. This is slowing down the application of computer technology in the field of anaesthesia.Mesh:
