Tophaceous aortic valve: a case report.

Abstract

Tophi were identified on the aortic valve cusps post mortem in a patient with chronic tophaceous gout. The deposits contained birefringent, dichroic crystals considered to be uric acid. In addition, there was stenosis of the aortic valve.
