Early vitrectomy in proliferative diabetic retinopathy.

M Shea.

Abstract

Pars plana vitrectomy was carried out in 140 patients with useful to excellent visual acuity associated with elevated proliferative diabetic retinopathy. A substantial reduction in the incidence of traction retinal detachment occurred and a significant improvement in visual prognosis was achieved.
