Evans Blue disappearance rate in normal and pre-eclamptic pregnancy.

D M Campbell, A J Campbell.

Abstract

The disappearance rate of intravenously injected Evan's Blue dye from the circulation (EBDR) has been studied in 21 normotensive primigravidae and 23 primigravidae with proteinuric pre-eclampsia. The EBDR is faster in those with pre-eclampsia and results in differences in plasma volume in pre-eclamptics depending on the method of calculation. The EBDR correlates with serum albumin concentration and total body water in pre-eclamptics, but not in normotensive pregnancies.
