The lateral fat compartment of the lower eyelid.

S Castañares.

Abstract

A rather common omission in technique results in leaving the lateral fat compartment of the lower lid partially or totally untouched, which results in a deformity in an otherwise excellent blepharoplasty. This leads to unhappiness in patients. Prevention of this condition is easily attained by a change in the direction of the incision over the orbicularis muscle. Once the condition has occurred, a simple direct surgical approach resolves the problem.
