Early surgical repair of post-hysterectomy vesicovaginal fistulas.

A technique for early suprapubic surgery which was successful in 5 out of 6 patients with post-hysterectomy vesicovaginal fistulas is described. A plea is made for early surgical repair, as a postoperative vaginal fistula is a serious complication for both the patient and the surgeon, and because early surgical repair is technically not significantly more difficult than delayed repair.
