Abstract
Exposure to solar radiation has been widely implicated in the dramatic rise in the incidence of cutaneous melanoma throughout the world. The association may be more complex than originally suspected, involving such factors as sunspot-activity cycles and changes in the ozone layer affecting ultraviolet flux at the earth's surface.
