Effect of nutritional status on responses to therapy.

J van Eys.

Abstract

The evidence for the effect of nutritional status on outcome is reviewed. It is concluded that poor nutritional status, is reversible, whether therapy is given or not, and that initial malnutrition presages poor outcome. However, reversal of the nutritional state does not affect outcome unless the antineoplastic therapy is inherently effective.
