[Spike activity of neurons of the limbic cortex in response to stimulation of the mammillary bodies of the hypothalamus and midbrain reticular formation].

Z A Vagramian, O G Baklavadzian.

Abstract

IN anesthetized cats, short-latency orthodromic and antidromic responses of the limbic cortex neurons to stimulation of the mamillary body and reticular formation (RF) suggest the existence of short direct and feedback connections among these three structures. Histogram analysis revealed the responses of maximal potential compactness to stimulation of the RF. High-frequency stimulation of the mamillary body and the RF exerted mainly an inhibitory effect upon the limbic cortex neurons.
