Abstract
The authors review some general issues concerning the development and use of animal models of schizophrenia and present a summary of the criteria necessary for validating models. They also describe some of the major attempts at creating animal models of schizophrenia, including drug and nondrug methods. They comment on the etiologic, phenomenologic, and treatment relevance of the various systems and suggest approaches that might produce improved animal models of schizophrenia.Entities:
