[Effects of ethyl alcohol and caffeine on the intensity of cigarette smoking].

R Nil, R Buzzi, K Bättig.

Abstract

Cigarette puffing behavior and depth of inhalation (expired CO) were compared after ethanol, caffeine and placebo treatments. Ethanol in the dose of 0.7 g/kg intensified smoking, enhancing CO-uptake, puff volume per cigarette and average puff volume. Neither ethanol in the dose of 0.5 g/kg nor caffeine in the dose of 5 mg/kg influenced cigarette smoking behavior.
