Abstract
A study of the infant-feeding practices of a socio-economically disadvantaged community in the Cape Peninsula suggested the need for improved support and education of mothers during the perinatal period. Such a programme was introduced and the study was repeated 2 years later. It was found that a significant increase in the rate of breast-feeding had occurred. It is suggested that the programme might have made an important contribution to this improvement.Entities:
