[Principles of fracture treatment in childhood].

U Mommsen, K H Jungbluth, M Dallek.

Abstract

In childhood the healing of fractures proceeds rapidly and reliably due to to the high repair capacity of the growing skeleton. Even remaining defective axis positions are more or less compensated. An approach to explain this mechanism is presented, based on our experimental investigations. Sometimes, however, considerable growth disturbances and severe malformations can be caused by an injury. Therefore a successful treatment must be guided by the knowledge of the reactions to injuries of the growing skeleton.
