[Effect of pentoxyfylline and xanthinol nicotinate on the overall blood pressure and tonus of cerebral and peripheral vessels].

Abstract

It has been demonstrated in cat experiments that pentoxyphylline (10 and 20 mg/kg intravenously, 1 mg/kg intraarterially) and xanthinole nicotinate (75 mg/kg intravenously) first produce dilatation on the part of the perfused vessels, with this dilatation progressing to the constriction in some of the experiments. As the dose of pentoxyphylline raised the arterial blood pressure, whereas after pentoxyphylline administration the phase alterations of AP were observed not infrequently: at first the pressure decreased and then rose as compared to the initial level.
