Corticosteroid-dependent asthma and schizophrenia.

L Sonin, R Patterson.

Abstract

Asthma may be difficult to manage in the patient with both schizophrenia and asthma. These patients may be noncompliant with medications or ambulatory appointments, abuse medical facilities, and require extra time and expense for their care. Some may be at increased risk of death through their noncompliance with medical regimens. The clinical course of nine patients with both schizophrenia and asthma is described. Therapeutic regimens that appeared to result in better control are reviewed.
