Combination of chemolysis and shock wave lithotripsy in the treatment of cystine renal calculi.

N T Schmeller, H Kersting, J Schüller, C Chaussy, E Schmiedt.

Abstract

Acetylcysteine was shown to be the best agent for in vitro dissolution of cystine calculi in 4 patients. Shock wave destruction enlarged the surface area effectively and decreased the dissolution time by 50 per cent.
