Umbilical vein blood flow as an indicator of fetal hypoxia.

Abstract

Umbilical vein blood flow was measured using a combination of real-time and pulsed Doppler ultrasonic equipment in 11 pregnancies associated with chronic fetal hypoxia. All the results obtained during the last 12 h before delivery demonstrated pathologically low flow values, mainly due to constriction of the umbilical vein.
