Isolated absence of nasal cilia: a case report.

M J Welch, E R Stiehm, J P Dudley.

Abstract

A child is described with chronic rhinitis, isolated absence of cilia in the nasal mucosa and findings suggestive of the Rothmund-Thomson syndrome. We believe that the cilia deficiency is primary and not secondary to infection since the nasal epithelium, other than lack of cilia, was normal, and because the history of rhinitis began at such an early age.
