Abstract
A case of simultaneous aspergillosis and mucormycosis complicating diabetic foot gangrene is reported. The recognition of this combined opportunistic fungal infection was brought about by an initial finding of birefringent calcium oxalate crystals associated with a background of acute inflammatory exudate, which is considered a strong clue to the diagnosis of infection caused by Aspergillus niger.Entities:
