Abstract
Diagnosis of annular pancreas is possible by endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) only when the branch encircling the duodenum is connected to the pancreatic duct system. The authors report on a case of annular pancreas characterized by pain and relapsing acute pancreatitis secondary to the malformation. Attention is focused on both the importance of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography for diagnosing the congenital duct anomaly and the exceptional association of acute pancreatitis and an annular pancreas.Entities:
