Abstract
The effect of 5-methoxy-2-[( (4-methoxy-3,5-dimethyl-2-pyridinyl)-methyl]sulphinyl)-1H- benzimidazole (omeprazole) on gastric acid secretion after repeated administration to healthy volunteers has been studied. Omeprazole in a dose of 30 mg given once daily for nine days suppressed acid secretion continuously, the inhibitory effect stabilising after five days. Omeprazole was absorbed and rapidly cleared from plasma; the inhibitory effect was related to the area under the plasma concentration-time curve.Entities:
