Haematological values in Northern Nigerian neonates.

M B Abdurrahman, M A Adekoje.

Abstract

Haematological values were determined in 100 full-term Northern Nigerian neonates. The mean values obtained were: haemoglobin 14 g/dl, haematocrit 0.42 1/1, reticulocyte 4.4%, platelet 173 X 10(9)/1, and leucocyte 9.253 X 10(9)/1. The haemoglobin and haematocrit showed a skewed distribution towards low values.
