Abstract
An adult with spontaneous septic arthritis due to Branhamella catarrhalis is described and the literature reviewed. B. catarrhalis is an organism similar to the Neisseria species and has been implicated in a variety of systemic infections. As it is frequently resistant to penicillin, cephamycins or third generation cephalosporins may be the empiric drugs of choice for infections caused by this organism.Entities:
