Abstract
Primary anastomosis following the resection of bowel for necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) can be done with acceptable morbidity and mortality rates. Twenty-seven patients are reported with three deaths. Primary anastomosis will avoid problems seen with small-bowel stomas. The concomitant ligation of a significant patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) should be considered for patients undergoing abdominal procedures for NEC.Entities:
