Expansion of the left atrial appendage is a distinctive cross-sectional echocardiographic feature of congenital defect of the pericardium.

A case report of a congenital defect of the pericardium in which the cross-sectional appearance of a prominent left atrial appendage is similar to the previously reported angiographic diagnostic appearance.
