"Silicone-octopus repair" of lacrimal obstructions in children.

K Nagashima.

Abstract

Nineteen pediatric cases of lacrimal obstruction due to acquired disorders were repaired by a modification of the conventional silicone intubation procedure. This new operation employs an increased number of silicone strands within the lower excretory system. Sixteen patients had very good results and two were improved; there was one failure. This procedure is indicated in children with combined common canalicular and nasolacrimal duct obstruction.
