Hydrothorax and hydromediastinum after use of an indwelling percutaneous catheter introducer.

Abstract

Indwelling percutaneous catheter introducers are useful tools in the critically ill patient. However, their placement is an invasive procedure with potential complications. We describe a previously unreported complication of introducer use and the prevention of this complication.
