Percutaneous nephrostomy and irrigation lithochemolysis. A new concept for the treatment of cystine stones.

Abstract

A case is reported of the dissolution of a cystine stone in the left renal pelvis by means of irrigation with N-acetyl-cysteine via percutaneous nephrostomy. As a result of this treatment no further operative measures were necessary. In our opinion the surgical removal of cystine stones is probably no longer necessary.
