Sub-trochanteric fracture (after Garden-screw fixation of sub-capital fracture) treated with AO dynamic hip screw and plate.

I G Mackie, R L Leyshon.

Abstract

A case of fracture through the femoral shaft at the site of the lower Garden screw, three months after operation is described. The purpose of this paper is to draw attention to the treatment of this fracture by replacing the lower Garden screw with an AO Dynamic hip screw and a five-hole plate, resulting in satisfactory healing of both fractures.
