Abstract

Spontaneous nontraumatic rupture of the thoracic aorta is a rare, life-threatening condition for which emergency diagnostic and therapeutic measures are indicated. The entity should be considered in the differential diagnosis of patients presenting with chest pain and signs of pericardial tamponade.
