Treatment of fractures of the fifth metatarsal bone.

L J Laurich, C S Witt, L M Zielsdorf.

Abstract

Fractures of the fifth metatarsal are fairly frequent. Articles and texts offer conflicting advice concerning treatment and prognosis of these fractures. By proper classification of these fractures and understanding of the mechanism of injury, a criterion can be established for the prognosis and treatment.
