Abstract
Intravenous GABA suppresses the spontaneous contractions of rat urinary bladder produced by saline loading (micturition reflex) without possessing any significant inhibitory effect on spontaneous and stimulated (neuro-hormones and field stimulation) contraction of rat detrusor strips in vitro. The in vivo effects of GABA, in view of the results obtained with atropine, hexamethonium and tetrodotoxin in the same experimental conditions, are likely to be ascribable to an action at pelvic ganglia level.Entities:
