Abstract
Electrocoagulation as a primary curative method for the treatment of carcinoma of the rectum is of proved merit. The continuation of abdominoperineal resection as the acceptable standard routine for treatment will deny many patients the choice of a proved alternative curative procedure with less risk, a better survival rate and a better quality of life. To confirm or negate the reported efficacy of electrocoagulation in the treatment of carcinoma of the rectum, the initiation of universal prospective studies in its use is warranted.Entities:
