A case of Capgras' phenomenon.

J A Wilcox.

Abstract

It has been suggested that neurological abnormalities may act in the pathogenesis of Capgras' phenomena. In this case, a schizophrenic male with Capgras' symptoms exhibited evidence of organic dysfunction suggested by the presence of abnormal neurological soft signs, an abnormal EEG, and an atypical computerised tomographic (CT) head scan. These findings suggest that organic factors may play a role in the development of Capgras' syndrome.
