A method of using the tympanomastoid fissure to find the facial nerve at parotidectomy.

Abstract

The methods of finding the facial nerve at parotidectomy are reviewed. The surgical anatomy of the tympanomastoid fissure and relevant segment of the facial nerve is described in detail. The authors' technique for finding the nerve using the tympanomastoid fissure as a guide is described.
