Pharmacokinetics of terbutaline after oral administration.

D S Davies.

Abstract

The systemic availability of oral terbutaline is limited by incomplete absorption and pre-systemic metabolism in the intestinal wall and/or the liver. There is considerable inter-subject variation in absorption but not in pre-systemic metabolism. Terbutaline is eliminated unchanged or as a conjugate and the degree of conjugation depends on the route of administration.
