Effect of cimetidine, histamine H2 receptor antagonist, in the prevention of experimental stress ulcer in the rat.

H H Lauterbach, P Mattes.

Abstract

The protective effect of cimetidine on gastric mucosal lesions in the rat was investigated. Through prophylactic administration of 3x 25 7g/kh body weight for 24 just prior to the test period, the incidence rate of lesions, as well as upper gastro-intestinal haemorrhage was highly significantly reduced.
