Designing a competency-based orientation for critical care nurses.

J G Alspach.

Abstract

A competency-based approach to staff nurse orientation can assist critical care units in more nearly achieving what orientation is really intended to accomplish. In so doing, entry level standards of nursing performance are founded, and critically ill patients and the public can be better assured of receiving the quality of nursing care that they deserve.
