[Advantages and disadvantages of transurethral and suprapubic urinary drainage following gynecologic operations].

R Becker, L Moltz.

Abstract

In a retrospective study the authors compared transurethral and suprapubic urinary drainage in 158 women after vaginal hysterectomy with subsequent plastic surgery. It was found that suprapubic urinary drainage was superior to transurethral drainage, particularly with regard to the indwelling time and likelihood of infection.
