Abstract
A descriptive study found that of 20 healthy, normal primiparas 25% experienced a very difficult adaptation to motherhood. Previous experience with infants and children, perception of support from postpartum nurses and husbands, help during the first week at home, and postpartum self-concept were found to be related to adaptation in this sample. Nursing implications and interventions for the normal pregnant woman and new mother are discussed.Entities:
