Flow volume spirometry as a test for postoperative airway evaluation following arytenoidectomy.

J Dwyer, H Heeneman.

Abstract

The postoperative upper airway of nine patients who had undergone Woodman procedures for bilateral vocal cord paralysis were assessed by means of flow volume spirometry using the FIF-50 measurement expressed in percentage of normal. There appears to be a good correlation between the postoperative FIF-50 and the degree of postoperative subjective laryngeal obstruction.
