Abstract
Retinectomy can be helpful in several cases: retinal inversion and giant tears when the edges are rolled up, and when vitreous strands are implanted on to pieces of the tear flaps; the approach to the subretinal area (subretinal glial strands, subretinal fluid drainage, subretinal foreign bodies); nondissectable areas of retinal retraction (retinal incarceration, vitreo-retinal proliferation, etc.). Most of these retinectomies have to be supplemented by vitrectomy followed by a silicone oil injection, with peroperatory cryotherapy or argon laser photocoagulation.Entities:
