The fight against the delay in the diagnosis of cancer.

E Robinson.

Abstract

The cure rate of cancer patients is greater if the disease is diagnosed at an early stage. Delay in diagnosis was found in 50% of the patients referred to our center; most of those who delayed had advanced disease. The reasons for the delay are discussed. It is suggested to perform an international study in order to investigate the magnitude of the delay, its causes and its effect on the cure rate.
