Abstract

The author discusses the clinical indications for therapy to enhance removal of toxins; the methods available to enhance removal of toxins, including forced diuresis and control of urine pH, peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, and hemoperfusion; the kinetics of hemodialysis and hemoperfusion; and the pharmacokinetic prediction of the efficacy of hemodialysis and hemoperfusion.
