Galactorrhea and thyrotoxicosis.

L P Kapcala.

Abstract

Galactorrhea has been reported to occur with a variety of conditions. Because several women with thyrotoxicosis in an endocrine clinic were also noted to have "idiopathic" galactorrhea, a retrospective analysis using two control populations was conducted to study the association of thyrotoxicosis and galactorrhea; comparison showed that the association was significant. This analysis suggests that thyrotoxicosis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of the cause of galactorrhea.
