Urological endoscopic surgery under local anesthesia: a cost-reducing idea.

A Orandi.

Abstract

With the new resectoscope injection needle adequate local anesthesia was obtained in 81 selected patients who underwent transurethral incision and resection of the prostate, visual urethrotomy, ureteral meatotomy, and resection of primary and recurrent bladder tumors, as well as for the immediate relief of postoperative pain when transurethral resection of the prostate was performed with the patient under general anesthesia.
