Meningeal cryptococcosis misdiagnosed as a manic episode.

O J Thienhaus, N Khosla.

Abstract

A 63-year-old man had symptoms and a history suggestive of a manic episode. Meningeal cryptococcosis with normal pressure hydrocephalus was later found to be the underlying cause. Antifungal treatment resulted in sustained improvement of all mental functions.
