Abstract
Subretinal proliferation is often present but less often identified as a component of proliferative vitreoretinopathy. Subretinal membranes form from retinal pigment epithelial cells and retinal glial cells that migrate into the subretinal space of eyes with long-standing retinal detachments. The membranes grow as sheets but break up into bands as the cells contract, with the stronger parts remaining intact.Entities:
