Pathological features of idiopathic torticollis in the duck--a model for human disease.

Light and electron microscopical observation of the neck muscles of ducks with torticollis are reported. Degeneration, inflammatory reaction, fatty infiltration and some regeneration were seen. The pathological features resemble those of human torticollis. This animal model provides an opportunity for further study of the disease of man.
